Nakuru County, located in Kenya, is the 32nd out of the 47 Kenyan counties. The county is home to Nakuru City, which is one of Kenya’s four major cities. President Uhuru Kenyatta granted Nakuru City a City Charter status on 1 December 2021, placing it alongside Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kisumu as one of Kenya’s cities. As of the 2019 census, Nakuru County has a population of 2,162,202, making it the third most populous county in Kenya after Nairobi and Kiambu, in that order. It covers an area of 7,496.5 square kilometers, making it the 19th largest county in Kenya by size. Nakuru County was previously part of Rift Valley Province until 21 August 2010.
