Migori County, situated in the former Nyanza Province of Southwestern Kenya, shares borders with Homa Bay County (to the North), Kisii County (to the North East), Narok (to the South East), Tanzania (to the West and South), and Lake Victoria (to the West). The county also shares a border with Uganda via Migingo Island in Lake Victoria. The largest town and headquarters of the county is Migori town. According to the 2019 Kenya National Census, the population of Migori County has increased to 1,116,436, up from 917,170 in the 2009 Census. Migori County is located within the sugar belt wetlands of Western Kenya and is situated in the heart of the African tropics. Despite this, the county enjoys a pleasant climate due to its high altitude, which modifies the weather conditions, along with the cool breeze emanating from Lake Victoria.
