County Director Medical Services at Tharaka Nithi County Assembly Full Time

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Overseeing service delivery in all health service areas including Diagnostic Services, Clinical Services, Nursing Services, Pharmaceutical Services, Blood Safety, Rehabilitative and Referral Services.
  2. Providing leadership in the implementation of a strategic plan which is linked to the Department of Health and National Health Plans.
  3. Leading in the development of Annual Work Plans.
  4. Supervising the implementation of the existing quality assurance systems provided to monitor the quality of service, investigate incidences/complaints in the hospitals and health facilities.
  5. Leading in the management of clinical audits, promoting issues pertaining to quality assurance including multidisciplinary audits and quality initiatives.
  6. Coordinating the training, coaching and mentoring of health personnel.
  7. Monitoring compliance of clinical and rehabilitative quality assurance guidelines.
  8. Developing and implementing medical Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and protocols.
  9. Coordinating emergency response and clinical care.
  10. Monitoring and evaluating activities against quality standards and response.
  11. Any other duty as may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time.

Qualifications: Requirements for Appointment

  1. Must be a Kenyan Citizen.
  2. Should have a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from a university recognized in Kenya.
  3. Should have a Masters’ degree in the relevant medical field from a university recognized in Kenya.
  4. Must be registered with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists.
  5. Should possess a valid practicing license from Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
  6. Should have an experience of at least 10 years.
  7. Must have the capacity to undertake multiple tasks within strict timelines.
  8. Should possess strategic and analytical skills with a deep understanding of the strategic and operational challenges of the health sector at County and National levels.
