Deputy Director, Legal Services at Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) Full Time

Scope of Work /Duties /Responsibilities

• Developing, implementing and reviewing of Authority’s policies, procedures, strategies and guidelines to ensure compliance with the relevant legal provisions;
• Facilitating the provision of legal opinion and advise on health product and technologies matters;
• Ensuring the Authority is represented in issues requiring legal address such as debts, claims and legal suits;
• Facilitating legal staff in taking of legal action against persons deemed to injure the operations of the Authority;
• Coordinating the drafting of legal agreements for editing and approval on procurement, employment, leases and conveyancing;
• Facilitating the verification of all contracts, agreements, leases in which the Authority enters into to ensure compliance;
• Coordinating the process of gathering of information and facts on current legal developments likely to be useful to the Authority; and
• Facilitating the collection and analysis of information on legal trends and changes to inform appropriate decision making in the Authority.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Laws (L.L.B) degree from a recognized institution;
• Master’s degree in Law or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
• Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law; Admission to the Bar as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya;
• Membership with the Law Society of Kenya;
• Leadership Development Course from a recognized institution;
• Certificate in Management Course from a recognized institution;
• Proficiency in computer applications;
• shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and result; and
• Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution

Experience

• A minimum period of ten (10) years in relevant work experience and at least three (3) years in a Supervisory position in the Public Service or Private Sector;
