Finance and Budget Officer at UNEP Full Time

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial & Data Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in financial principles and practices and should be able to independently conduct research, analysis, and data interpretation. The candidate should have excellent teamwork skills, be proactive and have a passion for delivering quality work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct research and analysis, formulate options, and present conclusions and recommendations
• Analyze and interpret data in support of decision-making and convey information to management
• Develop and maintain clear goals that are consistent with agreed strategies
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve organizational goals
• Prepare financial statements and adhere to accounting standards such as IFRS or IPSAS
• Utilize SAP or other ERP systems to support financial analysis
• Incorporate gender perspectives and ensure the equal participation of women and men in all areas of work
• Maintain professionalism and demonstrate competence in subject matter

Education:

• An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, finance, or a related area is required. A first-level university degree with 2 additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted
• Successful completion of degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science is an advantage

Work Experience:

• A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, budget, business administration, or a related area is required
• Experience in applying private sector or public sector accounting standards such as IFRS or IPSAS is required
• Working experience with Systems Application and Products (SAP) or another Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is required
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable

Languages:

• Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage
