Programme Management Officer at UNEP Full Time

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

• Utilize knowledge and understanding of theories, concepts, and approaches relevant to the field of transboundary waters to identify and analyze issues and participate in resolving problems
• Conduct data collection using various methods and analyze and interpret the data to support decision-making and convey information to management
• Show professionalism in work and maintain pride in achievements, meet commitments and deadlines, and handle stressful situations efficiently
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve organizational goals, place team agenda before personal agenda, and accept joint responsibility for team shortcomings
• Develop clear goals that are consistent with agreed strategies, prioritize activities and assignments, and allocate appropriate time and resources for completing work

Education:

• An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in marine biology, hydrology, environmental science, natural resources management, business administration, management, economics, or a related field is required
• A first-level university degree in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree
• Completion of data analytics, business analytics, or data science programs is an advantage

Work Experience:

• A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in project or program management, administration, or a related area including at least three (3) years at the international level is required
• Experience within UN or other international organizations is required
• Experience in program or project management in developing countries in the field of transboundary waters is required
• Large-scale project design, management, supervision, monitoring, and evaluation experience is desirable
• Working experience with different climate and environment funds such as Global Environment Facility (GEF) and Green Climate Fund (GCF) in a multi-country context is desirable
• Two (2) years or more of experience in data analytics or a related area is desirable

Languages:

• Fluency in English is required, knowledge of French is desirable
