Protocol Assistant at United Nations, Nairobi Full Time

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Maintain databases and conduct basic research to gather information from standard sources
• Apply good judgment in completing assignments and perform data analysis, modeling, and interpretation to support decision-making
• Demonstrate professional competence and mastery of subject matter and observe deadlines and achieve results
• Incorporate gender perspectives and ensure equal participation of women and men in all areas of work
• Consider clients’ needs and establish productive partnerships with them by gaining their trust and respect
• Keep abreast of available technology and apply it to appropriate tasks
• Meet timelines for delivery of products or services to clients

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required, and a diploma from a technical college in a relevant field is desirable
• Passing the Global General Service Test (GGST) is required for recruitment consideration in General Services and related categories at the United Nations Secretariat
• At least 5 years of experience in general office administration is required
• Experience in at least 3 of the following areas is required: accreditation, duty-free, value-added tax exemption, vehicle registration and driving license processing in a diplomatic setting
• Experience with e-government systems such as IPMIS, NTSA/TIMS, eFNS, and iTax is required
• 1 year or more of experience in data analytics or a related area is desirable
• Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is also desirable. Fluency equals a rating of “fluent” in all four areas (read, write, speak, understand), and “knowledge of” equals a rating of “confident” in two of the four areas.
