Sports Development Officer at Pwani University Full Time

Employment: Permanent and pensionable terms, or two-year renewable performance-based contract

Academic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management or Physical and Health Education or equivalent from a recognized institution

Experience:

• Physically fit and served for three years as Deputy Sports Officer or equivalent in a reputable sports club or institution of higher learning
• Relevant work experience with proven integrity, honesty, independence, innovativeness, and compliance to deadlines

Skills and Knowledge:

• First Aid
• Leadership
• Good public relations
• Good communication
• Driving and riding
• Computer applications
• Team building and teamwork
• Swimming and diving, and various sports and games activities

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for sports, recreation, and health activities and implementation
• Manage sports and recreational resources and facilities
• Coordinate, deliver, and implement sports and recreational activities
• Promote participation in sports, particularly amongst underrepresented groups
• Maintain records and produce reports of sports activities
• Attend meetings, seminars, and conferences for sports and recreation activities
• Support student and staff clubs in coaching and training various sports disciplines
• Maintain links with county, regional, and national sporting representatives and organizations
• Offer coaching, training, developing, and managing coaches and volunteer staff when appropriate
• Perform any other duty assigned by the Head of Section/Department
